Quick answersWhy hourly and not a flat day rate?
Flat day rates almost always over-charge small jobs and under-deliver on large ones. Hourly means you pay for exactly what you need — a 2-hour product set shouldn't cost the same as a full-day campaign shoot. For longer bookings, our half-day and full-day discounts (10% off) keep things fair.
What's included in the hourly rate?
Camera gear, lighting, basic on-site assistance, standard editing and color grading, and delivery via a private online gallery. Travel within the Kitchener-Waterloo region is free. Specialized add-ons (extra retouching, rush delivery, extended licensing) are listed transparently in the Add-ons table above.
Do you charge for prep and travel time?
Prep time is built into our rate — we don't bill you for loading the car. On-site setup and pack-down are part of shoot time (and that's standard industry practice). Travel outside a 50 km radius from Waterloo is billed at $0.75/km.
How does licensing work?
Standard rate includes unlimited use for web, social media, and internal print — for the client's own brand. Extended commercial licensing (out-of-home, national ad buys, third-party resale) is scoped and priced separately, starting at $400 depending on reach.
What's your turnaround time?
Standard turnaround is 5–10 business days for photography, 2–3 weeks for video (depending on runtime and revisions). Need it faster? Rush delivery is available at +30% — you'll get selects within 48 hours.
Do you require a deposit?
For bookings over $1,000, yes — a 30% non-refundable deposit holds your date. The balance is invoiced on delivery. Smaller bookings are paid in full on delivery via e-transfer or credit card.
What if the weather ruins the shoot?
Outdoor and aerial shoots are weather-dependent. If conditions are unsafe or will compromise quality, we reschedule at no cost within 30 days. Your deposit rolls over.
Do you shoot outside Ontario?
Yes — frequently. Travel beyond Ontario is quoted case-by-case, including flights, accommodation, and a day rate for travel days. Ask us.
